The check is woven, not printed
Look at the collar frames closely and the houndstooth is made of thread. The pattern comes out of the weave itself, so it shifts with the cloth and softens where the shirt folds, instead of sitting on the surface in one flat ink. That is why blue, green and dark grey read as three different cloths here rather than one print run in three colours.
Brushed on both faces
双面磨毛 — brushed on both faces — is the finish the maker names on its own label, and it is the reason this shirt has a matte hand rather than a slick one. A brushed wool blend keeps warmth closer to the body and blurs the edge of the check, which is what stops a houndstooth from tipping into something louder than it needs to be.
